Getting around Lyon
Roman ruins, modern boutiques, well-known restaurants and affordable prices. Already anxious to get carried away through this French urban jewel? The Lyonnais public transport (Transports en Commun Lyonnais) turns out to be the best choice.
The metro has 4 lines, 38 stations and runs every 2 minutes. It is an efficient mean of transport and also rather cheap, all in all the best way to get around the city. A ticket costs 1.50€ (useable on all buses, metros and trams, valid for one hour after the first use), while a daily ticket may be purchased for 4.40€. Group tickets and tickets valid for 10 trips or an hour are also available for purchase, either from tram/bus drivers, or at the metro entrance.
Restaurants and Nightlife
The region around Lyon is generally considered to have some of the best food in all of France. For vegetarians, though, the choice might be limited. As for nightlife, a good starting point is Place des Terreaux and then upwards towards the Croix Rousse. In the streets that climb the hill there are many nice places.

In Old Lyon, the main attraction for a great number of celebrities is La Tour Rose. For the connoisseurs, Pierre Orsi is not to be missed!

Besides its status as the third largest city in France, Lyon also stands as a highly important business center. Furthermore, it enjoys a delightful reputation as national gastronomic capital that attracts world-wide tourists over 2000 years, offering to its visitors a dazzling variety of entertainment, according to any preferences they may have.
One of the activities mostly enjoyed by the so known Homo turistus is shopping, and there’s no doubt about it when in Lyon. Auspiciously, Lyon has it all given the ample high-class commercial districts spread all over the city. For instance, the Carré d`Or (gathering more than 70 famous brands), situated on the pedestrian area between Place Bellecour and Cordeliers. If interested and looking for antiquities, works of art or any interior decorations, the Auguste Compte district is not to be missed!
